What is RSVP Rutland County Reads?
Rutland County Reads is a program serving children in school settings during regular school hours. RSVP/VC volunteers participate in activities designed to enhance the literacy and reading skills of children and to encourage and nurture their desire and motivation to read. As a Rutland County Reads volunteer, there are several ways to participate:
- Classroom Volunteers read to, share life experiences, storytelling, or provide enrichment
activities in elementary classrooms. - One on One Tutors provide individual assistance to selected students.
- Lunchtime Mentors meet with students weekly to read together.
Exciting news: We have partnered with local libraries to help support children with reading during their reading hour groups. Join our amazing program today!
“My volunteer was an excellent reader. The children loved her! She brought books to life for the children. Her sense of humor, caring nature, and wealth of knowledge made her a true asset to my class.” – Dodie Delong, Teacher • Northwest School
